Rick Hoyt

"Dad, when I'm running it feels like I'm not handicapped."

Rick Hoyt's parents were advised to institutionalize their new-born son, born a spastic-quadraplegic due to a lack of oxygen during birth, as it was predicted he would never lead a productive life. Not able to turn their backs on their own flesh and blood, Rick's parents strove to make his life as normal as possible. Visit the TEAM HOYT website to learn more about this amazing father-and-son triathlon-competition team.
With specialized equipment Dick Hoyt pushes, pulls and peddles his son through the rigours of the three-sport triathlons, allowing his son to experience the thrill of competition.
Seventy-years old this year, Rick and Dick are still competing.
Dick is a college graduate.
